Sweet cassava snack

Easy, full of colour and energy, enjoy this Sweet cassava snack recipe with your kids!

Ingredients for 4 servings

  • 500 g grated cassava
  • 100 g Blenuten ® vanilla flavour
  • 60 g sugar
  • 100 ml water
  • A pinch of salt
  • Food colouring according to your taste
  • Lightly grated coconut if you wish to use as sprinkles

Preparation

  • Peel the cassava, wash it and cut it into small pieces.
  • Boil the cassava pieces until soft. Then, puree the boiled cassava, and set it aside.
  • Stir the water, Blenuten® sugar evenly. Heat the mixture in a frying pan until the sugar and Blenuten® have completely dissolved.
  • Pour the mixture into the cassava puree. Stir well.
  • Divide the mixture into 3 parts, add colouring (for ex. red, green and clear). Stir each part until homogeneous.
  • Finally, divide each part into small pieces of equal size.

This traditional Indonesian dessert contains natural carbohydrates from the cassava and the sugar. Carbohydrates are the body's most important and most available source of energy for children. Cassava is a starchy root that is also very low in fat and protein, and rich in B-complex vitamins and folic acid. Cassava is also a good source of minerals such as zinc, magnesium, copper, iron and manganese.
